Sakura Kobudo is instructed by Curtis Stolaas.  Although not being a member of the Jinenkan very long, he has trained in martial arts since 1999 in Shotikan and American Freestyle.  He was a member of the University of Alabama in Huntsville Freestyle tournament team.  In 2004 Curtis found himself wanting more from his training efforts and decided to look else where for inspiration.

His wife pointed him to a traditional martial arts associationwhich taught the arts of the samurai.  This was what he was looking for and scheduled a meeting with his soon to be instructor, Dojo-Cho Matt Stennett.  Since that meeting Curtis has been training under his Dojo-Cho who in turn was taught by the original Jinenkan Master, Unsui-Sensei
